The citywide 2019 Faith Summit on Racism and Child Poverty was attended by 400
people, engaged in an honest conversation about disrupting racism, the root cause of poverty.

Durham is a thriving city with a median income of over $50,000. Yet we have a 28 percent child poverty rate and a nearly 20 percent adult poverty rate. This disparity is unacceptable, shameful, and contrary to the teachings of our faith traditions.

We therefore seek to mobilize community organizations and the faith community to remove the scourge of poverty from our city. As a grassroots organization, we seek to support existing anti-poverty efforts and promote other initiatives that address the underlying causes of poverty.

Our Mission

To make our organizations and congregations aware of the crisis of poverty in our city.

To develop a plan to eliminate it within the next 25 years.
